Our dress code at TFC ensures a respectful, safe, and comfortable environment for all of our members. Whether you’re attending a boxing class, MMA training, or rolling on the mats for BJJ, here’s what we expect from our members:
General Guidelines
Footwear
This is probably our most important rule of all! Shoes MUST be worn on arrival to the gym (thongs or slides are fine). If you need to use the bathrooms at any point in your time at the gym shoes MUST be worn. Shoes MUST NOT be worn whilst on the training mats.
Why? We roll around and put our faces on the mats everyday. We need to keep them as clean as possible and we don’t want dirty toilet feet walking where our faces go. Boxing shoes are allowed but make sure they are clean.
Wear the TFC Shirt with Pride
We encourage all members to wear TFC-branded gear whenever possible. It shows you’re part of our team and represents the values of respect, dedication, and community that we uphold. In saying that, if you have other gyms apparel and you want to wear it to TFC that is completely fine and not something we have an issue with.
Specific to Classes
Kickboxing and Muay Thai
Please wear comfortable, athletic clothing that gives you a full range of movement. 16 oz Gloves, shin guards, and mouthguards are required for sparring and are available for hire during your first class if needed.
Boxing
Similar to Muay Thai, wear comfortable clothes to training. Boxing shoes are allowed but on the mats but please be sure to only put your boots on at the entry to the mats and not to be worn outside of the gym. If you need to use the bathroom during class we have oversized slides you can slip on whilst wearing your boots so they don’t walk on the ground in the bathroom.
MMA
For MMA classes we encourage a rash guard and grappling shorts to be worn. This is to prevent fingers or toes getting caught in pockets or loose items of clothing. Try your best to avoid anything that has metal zippers.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ)
For BJJ classes, a proper Gi (uniform) is required for Gi sessions, and a rash guard and grappling shorts are required for No-Gi classes.
Hygiene and Safety
Clean Gear Only
Please ensure your training gear is clean and fresh for each session. This keeps the environment safe and pleasant for everyone.
Protective Equipment
Safety comes first at TFC. Always wear the proper protective gear during sparring and high-contact activities. This includes 16oz gloves, shin guards, and mouthguards where necessary.
By following these guidelines, you help maintain the high standards of our gym and ensure a positive experience for everyone. If you’re ever unsure about the dress code or where to get anything, just ask one of our coaches or staff members. We sell everything you need and our staff will help you so it’s not a guessing game.
