Confidence, Discipline & Respect

We teach kids how to fight, because we’ve seen and experienced first-hand, the quiet confidence and self-respect that grows in a kid from knowing how to defend yourself.

Through learning to fight with striking sports like Boxing & Muay Thai, and grappling sports like BJJ & MMA, kids can learn how to –

  • Manage emotions
  • Handle aggression
  • Deescalate conflict
  • Stay safe in hand to hand combat
  • Keep calm in high pressure situations

The skills kids pick up from learning how to fight last a lifetime, and are not only valuable in their day to day to interactions, but also transferable to other competition and sports they may be involved with, helping to support a better all round athlete.

Kids Classes At TFC

Kids classes at TFC start from 6 years old and up.  Between 12 – 14 years old we move them into the teens program.

The kids classes operate 5 days a week, Monday to Friday on the following schedule –

  • 3:45PM – 4:30PM Kids BJJ
  • 4PM – 5PM Kids Striking (Boxing & Muay Thai)

We encourage families to mix up their kids training over the week between striking sports (Boxing & Muay Thai) and grappling sports (Kids BJJ).

Doing this in the early days of learning something new, helps to keep kids engaged, and they will naturally gravitate towards the sports they enjoy the most.

Dan Hearn is the Head Coach of the Kids Striking program, and the TFC amateur Muay Thai Fight Team.  He is joined on the mats every day by a number of assistant trainers, who are all active fighters across the different competitive teams at TFC.

You can read more about Dan and other coaches here.

Ben Johnston (BJJ Black Belt/Head Coach/Owner) oversees our Kids BJJ program, whilst day to day you will find BJJ Brown Belt, Auryn Parmley on the mats teaching the Kids BJJ classes.

Auryn started learning Martial Arts at 7 years old.  His family owned their own studio so his Mum & Dad were his coaches.  He started teaching at his family studio from 10 years old.  At 15 years old Auryn had his first MMA fight, eventually going on to become captain of the Australian MMA team attending the world champs with them in 2023.
