Boxing For Ages 6yrs to 12yrs In Logan

For lots of kids, learning Boxing is a familiar place to start their fighting skills journey.  With a rich history, Boxing for kids is one of the most searched for classes in combat sports.  Teaching kids Boxing is a popular choice for many families when they want their kids to learn discipline or self-defence.

What your child can learn from Kids Boxing:

  • Proper boxing stance and balance
  • Basic punching techniques and combinations
  • Coordination and footwork drills
  • Confidence and respect for others
  • Self defense and anti bullying

Our Kids Boxing classes start from age 6 through to age 12.  Boxing skills are an important part of our kids program.

We focus on teaching Boxing fundamentals – building a strong foundation with footwork, the various different punches (strikes), and defensive movement patterns. Combinations, distance and range are Boxing skillsets that kids learn with time and commitment.

Kids who learn Boxing pick up valuable life skills, and their families often see improvements in their kids discipline and focus, while developing a healthy respect for themselves and others.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Boxing safe for kids?

Boxing is among one of the safest contact sports available to children.  It primarily teaches offensive and defensive patterns that centre around footwork for distance, range and evasion techniques.

At The Fight Centre we do not allow any head contact for Kids Boxing, and our classes are well staffed.

Kids will train with peers of equal size, age and ability.  Even in competitive Kids Boxing events there is a referee tempering the pace of the fight, gloves with more padding used, as well as headgear and groin guards, plus a medical doctor sitting ringside at all times.

Despite the bad press Boxing can sometimes receive, it is a well governed Olympic level support, and as long as the gyms training under these conditions adhere to the safety requirements set by Boxing Australia/Boxing QLD, then we are confident in saying kids Boxing is safe.

Are your kids Boxing coaches qualified to teach kids?

The Kids Boxing coaches at TFC are either active or retired fighters.  Between them, they hold generations worth of real-world experience!

Alongside their fight experience, all of our lead trainers are fitness industry qualified, and are certified annually in CPR and hold their current First Aid.

Additionally, we invest a lot into the ongoing training and up-skilling of all of our staff/coaches, with on the job development and mentorship.

How much will it cost for my kid/kids to learn Boxing at your gym?

Kids Boxing at The Fight Centre is taught as part of our Kids Striking program.

Kids who learn martial arts at TFC, learn the stand up striking sports of Boxing & Muay Thai, and have the option of also learning Kids Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (Kids BJJ).

The fees include the cost for the entire program, and you can look at those membership options here.

For kids we have a 2 class pass, as well as an unlimited option, the fees range from approximately $47 – $57 per week on weekly direct debit.

Other fee options are also available, but this gives you somewhat of a price guide.  Associated costs include equipment purchases.

Will my kids be expected to fight competitively?

Active competition is a personal choice for each student and their families.  We do not encourage it until 14 years old or above – we believe this is best practice for kids overall mental, emotional and physical well-being.

Competition can often present unnecessarily high pressure environments, unlike a regular field of play for team sports, in Boxing it is a stage for one athlete only, and all the lights and attention are on them.

We prefer to gradually prepare kids for competition over time, in smaller more friendly environments, in-house exhibitions and inter-club sparring events.
