Why Muay Thai?

Muay Thai has traditional Thai origins, but in Australia it’s adapted into a culture of its own while still honouring the origins of the sport.  This means you get to learn a modern combat sport, and still experience the deep roots and rituals of a traditional martial art.

Coaching
  • It's the best choice for real world self-defence

Muay Thai came from Thai warriors who fought hand to hand combat in real wars.  It’s known to be one of the best forms of striking in an actual self-defense situation.

You’ll be sure to feel safer and more capable in the face of danger. Watch as the skills you learned exceed far beyond your training years.

  • It's versatile and fun for adults & kids

We see Adults and kids from different walks of life benefit from learning Muay Thai every day.  At TFC we have so many families that enjoy training and learning this together.

Because it’s so fun and inclusive it helps to promote a healthy lifestyle and boosts confidence for all ages, without feeling like a chore.

  • Lots of pathways to competition if you want to fight

Muay Thai is great for competition.  In QLD it has great pathways from grass roots up.  We have a fight team of all ages who regularly compete locally and nationally, so if you have your heart set on competition you’ll be in great company.

Not to mention that most of today’s UFC fighters choose to cross-train in Muay Thai.

The sport sharpens their striking by incorporating punches, kicks, knees, and elbows. This allows fighters to be more creative and have more options in how to attack an opponent. Combining these techniques is the reason why they call the sport “the art of eight limbs.”

Yes.  Of all the sports we teach, Muay Thai classes are the most suitable for beginners.

Comfortable training clothes that allow you to have a full range of motion in your arms and legs.  Bring a towel and a water bottle of course, and we can provide the Gloves and shin guards for your first lesson.

How fit do I need to be before starting Muay Thai?

You can come straight off the couch and onto the mats.  Training Muay Thai will gradually and purposefully, build your fitness over time.

2–3 sessions per week is ideal for beginners.  When you’re starting out, consistency is more important than volume, so work towards building a training schedule that you can maintain.
