TFC Weekly Member Update ~ July 7th to July 13th

You did it guys!  You pulled off the biggest mid-year grading day in TFC’s 10 year history.  The Muay Thai grading was first up where we saw 2 new black singlets join the line up in Sam Daley and Ellie Swiatek, while mother/daughter duo, Jess & Jayde Grey were awarded their Brown 2 on the same day.

It was an event for the books, especially to have Ben Johnston and Darcy Vendy presented with their BJJ Black Belts from a very chuffed, Nakia Melody.

Jarvie had to keep that secret for a good few months, while he organised all of Ben’s friends and family to be in attendance.  Spirits were high and the culture went deep, tears flowed plenty, well before the beers started, and then it was all fun and games over at the Meadowbrook Golf Club.

Mid-year grading is always the biggest grading of the year, but after how this went down I kinda feel like the end of year grading might give it a run for it’s money.

Speaking of end of year events, we chat about a very special save the date in this weeks member update, but just in case you don’t listen through, (cos’ you’re a reader like me), it’s NOVEMBER 29th!  Mark that date in your calendar, we have something very special to release!

• Two New Black Singlets

  Sam Daley & Ellie Swiatek received their black singlets at Mid Year grading, and they joined the line up of black at the head of the room.

  Both Sam & Ellie spoke about their  journey TFC took them on to get to their black singlet, and had some sound words of advice for all of you still on the road.

  “If you feel like giving up just take a break, reassess and come back, don’t give it away — just keep smashing those goals” ~ Ellie Swiatek.

  
  It was also an extra special moment to see Jess & Jayde Grey receive their Brown 2 singlets, and now they enter the zone before black.

  Be sure to show some love to each of these 4 when you see them on the mats.

  

• Beatdown Results

  We had 1 win and 2 losses at Beatdown, with Eli Mills coming out on top.

  Izaiah Hernandez was first up and got caught in the first.

  Eli fought 2nd and went to war, coming out battered and bruised to take the win.

  The night wrapped up with Chivorn Nim unfortunately losing 2 out of 3 rounds at the decision.

  Our amateur MMA team continues to build, and the talent pipeline is insane.

  We look forward to seeing more from these 3, as they continue to walk the road less travelled.

  

• BJJ Black Belts

  “If you want to go fast, go alone, but if you want to go far, go together”

  Honestly, this tried & true quote was never more fitting than it was when seeing Nakia Melody present both Darcy Vendy and Ben Johnston with their black belts at Mid Year grading.

  We’ll definitely be releasing more of the media captured on the day, because this one for sure needs it’s very own post.

  The words and sentiments shared by so many in the room give such a great insight into the true roots and direction of what the whole team is doing at TFC.

  For now, I’ll say less and leave this pic.

  

• Chasing You For Fight Camp 7

  With just 2 weeks left until Fight Camp 7 kicks off we’re chasing some key contenders.

  If you are still sitting on the sidelines it’s time to dust yourself off and get amongst it, because there won’t be another Fight Camp for at least 18 months.

  We dropped some new info on your coaches for Fight Camp, and we made some changes to the key dates.
