TFC Weekly Member Update ~ June 9th to 15th 2025

11 June 2025

Welcome to our first weekly member update!  You can watch, listen or read to stay up to date every week with what’s happening at TFC.

In this first publication Jarvie and Lorina chat about TFC’s big mid-year grading event, Fight Camp 7 and Eternal 96.

By Lorina Thompson.

On any given day, there are 5 million and 1 things going on at TFC.

We offer classes in 4 different combat sports codes, and have over 70 different sessions every week, from sun up to sun down.

We have over 15 staff, a roster of pro MMA fighters, amateur fighters, and fight teams in Muay Thai and amateur Boxing.  In addition to that BJJ is it’s own beast, with regular competitions for kids, teens and adults, locally, nationally and internationally.

At all times we are monitoring student progress, attendance and class structure and effectiveness; all the while attempting to do the best we can every day to navigate the challenges and privileges that go hand in hand with business.

It’s no wonder then, that we find ourselves, even after 10 years, still tuning and tweaking the way we communicate with our members.  I think that’s a good sign that we’re always paying attention to the voices around us, and to the rapidly changing landscape of communication mediums.

Attention is an expensive and rare commodity, and it’s part of the TFC ethos, not to take this for granted.  In a landscape of high performance, wasting time is blasphemy.

So that brings me to today.

I have just finished editing our first weekly member update video.  The idea is not uncommon – we record a single piece of content, and then repurpose that content across multiple platforms, and make it native to each platform so that it performs better, and the information is disseminated more efficiently.

Now, both James Jarvie and I, prefer to stay behind the camera, but a weekly update needs some continuity that everyone else’s schedule just won’t allow for.  So, (for now at least) – you’re stuck with us delivering you all the TFC member news each week.

In this weeks member update we release the Mid Year Muay Thai & BJJ Grading date, give you an update on the registrations for Fight Camp 7, have a quick chat about Eternal 96 on June 21st, and bring you up to speed with 2 key things we need you to get on board with this month – no more borrow gear at the gym AND why we had to crack down on our member check-in process.

Listen in on the video below or keep scrolling for more info.

  • AROUND THE GYM

2 Key Things We Need You To Pay Attention Too.

1, check in correctly at front desk and 2, we’re phasing out borrow gear.

To check in correctly you need to have access to the TFC Member app on your phone, and book for classes before arriving at the gym.

You’ll never miss out on a spot in class, but if you don’t book in, you can’t check in.

If for any reason you can’t access the app, there is a manual member sign in sheet where you can write your name down and one of our staff will check you in.

Incorrect check ins have a huge impact that affects how effective we can be in supporting you in your combat sports journey.

So please, never pass reception without checking in correctly first, not even to put your bag down.

    Next up, borrow gear.

Yep!  The era of stinky, sweaty, used borrow gear, is coming to an end.

In the name of excellence and high performance, you must have all of your own personal training equipment.

We will have borrow gear available for new members who are trialling their first class, and some on hand for anyone who forgets their gear bag now and again.

But after JuneMi 30, you will not be able to borrow or hire gloves or shin pads in the gym.

  • MID-YEAR GRADING (BJJ & MUAY THAI)

    Sunday, July 6th!

    Muay Thai 8am – 9:30am
    BJJ – 9:30am – 11am

Followed by a low key celebration just up the road at the Meadowbrook Golf Club.

Mid-year grading is always our biggest grading event of the year.  It’s a good time for all of our members to come and hang out and immerse yourself in the TFC team culture.

As Uncle Des likes to say, “one team, one dream, all in”.

Some key grading info for those who might not be up to speed:

-> It’s included in your membership so you don’t have to pay (sometimes we even have past members join us.)

-> The doors are open to you regardless of how long you’ve been a member or what you train.

-> Your friends and family members are also welcome.

-> There is a registration form, the link has been emailed to you.  Your registration helps us to prepare for what grades will be awarded on the day, and how many people will be on the mats.

On July 6th, we’re presenting some high level grades, which always makes for an extra special ceremony.  Look forward to seeing everyone there!

  • FIGHT CAMP 7 OPEN REGISTRATIONS

There will be one chance to do Fight Camp this year, and that’s Fight Camp 7, so don’t miss out on this one.

Register now, and let the team decide if you’re ready for a solid 10 weeks of fight training.

Fight Camp 7 starts on July 18th, but you must be registered by June 30 to secure your place.

Over the last 4 years, TFC Fight Camp has solidified it’s place in making the ring more accessible to a larger audience.

Let me give you some insight into how the Fight Camp registration process works.

-> First, we always allow for Early Bird registrations.  During the early bird registrations a discounted price is offered, and we fill the bulk of the places here.

-> Early bird registrations gives us the chance to have a wider lead in to Fight Camp, and we get to see who we’re working with and what the teams will look like.

-> When we re-open the registrations, we now have a good idea of what other places need to be filled, and how many.

-> What we look for is weight, age, experience, base skill level and consistency in attendance.  Consistency over volume is more important at the selection stage.

-> Of course, Fight Camp comes at an additional cost to your weekly TFC membership.

Your Fight Camp fee covers weekly private group coaching sessions, additional event insurance, administrative costs, assigned team coaches with access via private chat groups, conditioning and nutrition programs, mindset sessions, and lots more that you’ll get to experience over the 10-weeks.

Registrations are open again now, until June 30.

Registrations will be reviewed weekly, and if suitable, you can expect an invite within 7 days of your registration.

From there, you will have 7 days to arrange for payment.

  • FIGHT TEAM UPDATES

On June 21st Darcy Vendy gets back in the cage for his 2nd, Eternal Middleweight Title Defense.

The amateurs are busy in June with 2 Muay Thai shows.

We’re also likely to have some Boxers on the Rebels Boxing card (Boxing QLD Amateur event) on June 14th.

And we have some of the MMA team on Growstrong on the 28th, but the week before that it’s Eternal 96, back on the Gold Coast, where TFC’s Darcy Vendy will defend his Middle weight title for a 2nd time.

On the same card as Darcy we have Jonas Solari and Jonathon Aiello.  Jon will headline the amateur undercard for Eternal 96, while his best mate Darcy, claims the spotlight for the main event.

When it comes to fight team updates, there is rarely going to be a weekend off for the rest of the year, so as a fan you’re spoiled for choice.

But it’s hard to say no to a title defence.  So if you’re following along with Darcy’s rise, then grab your tickets to Eternal 96 now.
